My Quest To Immortality

My Journey to Immortality
If you know me well enough, you probably would have known my reaction when I first got to know about the Egyptian exhibition in December.
It was like an early Christmas gift.
But I waited nearly two months to actually visit it.
If you arrive at 1230hrs/ 1430hrs, you’ll be just in time for the guided tour.
For those of you who are totally clueless about Egyptian history, it’s a good chance for you to catch up.

Typical "standing" and "sitting" postitions
The typical sitting positions would be of them sitted with their hands on their laps.
And for the standing, it would be with their hands on both sides, and their left foot forward.

The cross- section of the white pyramid shows the different chambers in the pyramid.
For example, the mummification chamber, chamber where offerings are placed, and the chamber where the “opening-mouth-ceremony” would be.
Egyptians believed that the mouth has to be opened in order for them to be able to eat during the after- life.

Top: Wooden Jewel Box ; Bottom: Ornate Collar
The Ornate Collar is found in the burial chamber of the tomb, around the neck of the owner, serving as an amulet to protect the wearer.
These collars are usually not found as they’ll be stolen by tomb robbers.
And in later years, collars are painted on the coffin for the same purpose.

Top: Mummified Falcon, Mummified Cat ; Bottom: Mummified Crocodile, Expose Crocodile
They believed that by mummifying their cats, the cats would be with them in their after- life.
X- rays and CT scans have revealed two other bodies contained within the coverings and placed between her legs.
These were two infants that could have died before or after birth, and may have been twins.

Top (left to right): Mummified Body, Fragment from The Book of the Dead ; Bottom: Scarabs and Amulets, Canopic Jars
Canopic jars contains the lungs, liver, stomach and intestine.
These contents were placed under the protection of four minor gods called the Sons of Horus.
But the most facinating artifact in this exhibition would be a fragment from the Book of the Dead.
These texts were placed inside tombs as a guide to life in the afterworld.
Can’t wait to travel to Egypt.
Wouldn’t it be interesting to get a part-time job in the Egyptian museum for maybe say, a month?
But most of the artifacts are not in Egypt itself.

Met Min for dinner at Timbre Art House.

Dinner At Timbre Art House
Before dinner, we wandered to Marina Square in search for her Chinese New Year clothings, but we ended up at the UFO machines.
She was freakin’ lucky, and caught me my very own Scrumps!!!!
Total Love!!
But her luck wore off after that, no more toys for us.
It’s always fun catching up, even though we last saw each other last December.
Next meet up would probably be next week, during CNY.
Yay!! my very own Scrumps!!
Thank You Ass!!

Photoshoot

Today’s photoshoot was *thumbs up*.
I haven’t seen the end product, but what I saw in the camera was NOT ugly.
I was really comfortable.
It didn’t require me to wear a bikini, stand up straight and stick my chest out.
And the best thing was …
I DIDN’T HAVE TO SMILE!!
I slouched all I wanted, pose to look like I have broken limbs, and I was allowed to give the dead- doll look.
Total love!!
Except for the washing off of marker ink part.

Hard Rock Hotel, Happy Birthday Baby
January 30, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Wasting time in the toilet.
I’ve never really done waitressing before.
As in the taking orders kind.
And I confess that I can’t balance a tray of drinks with one hand.
It was alittle frustrating because customers asked me to recommend mocktails to them and I was totally clueless.
I ended up walking to the bar for answers for every question they asked.
“Complicated Order!!”

Ok, now to the more ‘interesting’ topic.
Some of you probably know that Princeton was invited to a doggy party.
It was a pre- birthday party for Baby, Y.H’s Yorkshire Terrier.
I was so looking forward to it, and it was a total disappointment!!
My mum drove us down to Pawtobello, which was SUPPOSE to be at Mohd. Sultan Road, is currently a 7- eleven.
-.-
Drove down to UrbanPooch, to find that it was closed for the day.
And the dog cafe at Thomson road is no longer a cafe.
To make things worse, Princeton being Princeton, was a total anti- social.
He was sulking throughout the whole car ride.
Ignoring Baby when Baby tried to ‘talk’ to him.
And we ended up sending him home.
!!! PARTY POOPER !!!
This is the only photo I got of him since he was totally emo.

Anti- Social Princeton
My mum, Y.H , Baby and I ended up at West Coast’s McDonald’s.
Actual doggy birthday party became three human celebrating a dog’s birthday.
-.-

West Coast Park McDonald's
Went for ‘meet- the- parent’ session today.
Princeton’s in trouble again.
He went into my aunt’s garden and plucked out all the flowers and flower buds.
Total trouble- maker, and he looked all ” It- Wasn’t- Me” when we arrived.

- Happy 6th Birthday
Or should I say 42nd Birthday??

Happy Valentines’ Day To Me In Advance
January 19, 2010 · 2 Comments
It’s mid January and I received a Valentines’ Day present.
Was sitting in Bugis’s Starbucks reading because I ended class at 3.15 and dinner with Felicia and gang was at 7p.m.
This person working in Starbucks came to clear the mugs from my table and decided to sit down and have a chat with me.
He asked how my day was, what book I was reading, how my weekend was.
And he came up with this ‘pick- up’ line.
” Guys should always sit at least a metre away from you as they’ll melt because of your sweetness.”
Erm, ok.
He went back to his work, and me back to my book.
When he ended his shift, he came to me, wished me Happy Valentines’ Day, and gave me a packet of cookies.

S: Erm, it’s not Valentines’ Day yet.
Starbucks: I know. But I’m not sure when I’ll see you again so I’m giving it to you in advance.
S: Erm, ok. Thanks.
And like that, I got my very first Valentines’ Day present from a total stranger.
Girls out there, if you want free cookies, do make a trip down to Bugis Junction’s Starbucks.
As for the guys, erm, you can try your luck.
No guarantees.
